Why Give God Extravagant Praise and Worship?

We give God extravagant praise and worship because He is incredibly worthy.

Psalm 150, verse 2 says, "Praise Him according to His excellent greatness." He is very great, therefore we praise Him accordingly in great and expressive ways.

Just as the woman in John 12:3 poured out her expensive ointment on Jesus' feet, so we are invited to pour out our offering of worship to Him.

You may see us following many Biblical examples of praise and worship:

Clapping: "O clap your hands, all peoples; shout to God with the voice of joy." Psalm 47:1

Shouting: "Shout joyfully to God, all the earth." Psalm 66:1

Lifting Hands: "Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord." Psalm 134:2

Speaking in Tongues: "And these signs will accompany those who have believed:...they will speak with new tongues." Mark 16:17

Prophecy: "But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation... therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues." 1 Corinthians 14:3, 39

Spontaneous Songs: "Sing to the Lord a new song." Psalm 149:1

Dancing: "Let them praise His name with dancing." Psalm 149:3

Flags: "We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners." Psalm 20:5
